A large-bore pistol, as longas an underarm. Not terribly accurate. Early models have matchlocks, where a burning match must be kept in the lock for the gun to fire - dangerous and inconvenient. Later models used flintlocks, a great improvement.
This is a comparatively cheap weapon common on the battlefield. Once it has been fired, it can be held by the barrel and used as a Club.
