Creatures / Rules

Supernatural Creature schticks, or Creatures schticks for short, is a set of magical abilities that manifest in creatures that accept the magic into themselves. Unlike Sorcery, which channels external energies, and Fu which channels internal energies, Creatures merge themselves with power. They accept the supernatural essence into themselves, and as a result they change.

Creature Advantages

Creatures have powers way beyond normal humans. Not only do they tend to have extraordinary Attributes, but they also have Schticks to represent their supernatural might. These schticks are used with Powers, and that skill also allows the creature to Dodge and perform basic stunts of different kinds. Each Schtick costs 10 Experience points to acquire.

Creature Limitations

All Creatures are inhuman to one degree or another. From the Champions who remain almost human, to the wholly inhuman Entities, they all share this distinctly alien nature. This makes all Creatures more or less sociopathic. While they may appear good and can work together with each other or with ordinary people for a common purpose, they lack the society-building power of ordinary folk. A society composed entirely of Creatures is not healthy, and either becomes locked in stifling ritual or degenerates into non-constructive chaos.

This is not really a limitation for any individual creature. But most Creatures also have Limitations, flaws brought on by their supernatural essence. As encouragement and by way of compensation, the creature gains an number of free Schticks equal to the number of Limitations.

Creature Types

Most creatures are classified as some kind of subtype. These are listed in Types. While they have no game effect in themselves, merely serving as examples of what powers and limitations are common to different types of creatures, they are an important past of most game worlds. Paying attention to these types when building a supernatural creature can give inspiration and increase the enjoyment of the game.
