My idea on how to use this page is that is should be a long alphabetical list of all characters in the campaign. The various power groups are described in the OrganizationGuide. - StarFox
Personally, I think that the best solution would be two lists in that case, since there's a need for a structured overview of characters as well. It's much easier than clicking through each and every house. And, while we're on personal opinions, why not use brackets for all links? It's hell skimming through the editable texts looking for links as it is now - half bracketed, half sillyCaps. Not to mention that English like "House Of Eight" is quite ugly. Hmmm...we need /Talk pages -Merry
Yup, we sure do. But since it is mainly us two talking , we could do it on ICQ. - StarFox.
Yes, but that feels very unWiki, since the point of a Wiki is that everything should be open and editable. -Merry
Huh? I changed MatronLaiHezz to Matron LaiHezz because PanzerMan had said that LaiHezz should be written together. Why change it back? confused -Merry, again.
I was going through pages and noticed the strange wikiname. The URL of a page with strange characters in it (and that includes spaces) looks realy ugly, so I changed it. If there is a special reason for it's existance, I could change it back. - StarFox
Well, it's your call, although I'm of the opinion that content always goes before form. Thus, if the only way to spell the name right means an ugly URL, you accept the URL or change the way the URL is generated (I think that the wikipedia wiki creates underscores instead of spaces). -Merry
I'm not saying that I think that the concept of Wikiwords are wrong, but it's so patently obvious that many words cannot be made into wikiwords without respelling them or turning them into bad English. "Council of Eight", or Matron Laihezz (with a big "H", that is), or all words/names that are single. There's no way you can make all words into wikiworks, and that means it'll be blotchy and inconsequent whatever you do. -Merry
And this "Do not hyperlink"-stuff by prefixing with an exclamation mark works so-so. -Merry
As I said, this wiki version is between two revisions. Things work funny unless you de-check the "use new markup" button. Sometimes it works funny anyway. - StarFox
Okay - will try without markup.-Merry
And one more question - image upload. How do I do? - Merry
Sadly, you don't. You can either mail them to me, and I can upload them, or you can create hyperlink to wherever the image is located, and it will be displayed, like this:
Thanks -Merry
Round two
- The main reason for WikiWords is that they generate pretty URLs. Once you have used the Wiki for a while, you start referencing favorite pages directly in the URL, without using the built-in links. And an URL like http://hastur.net/drow/wiki/MatronLaiHezz is a lot prettier than http://hastur.net/drow/wiki/Matron%20LaiHezz or http://hastur.net/drow/wiki/Zhe%27raen. Both versions work, tough.
You can always use brackets to hide the exact title of a page, like this Merry. - Another argument is that insertinb brackets for every hyperlink will reduce the number of hyperlinks that you bother to use.
- But I admit there are arguments for always using brackets. A link page with all links in brackets can be sorted
- StarFox
My web browser calls the link "
Another nice thing with brackets is that you can have possessive s at the end of words, and still link them to the right page, and that you can link a page to another word than the one written (media can be linked to mass media, 'Raen to Zhe'raen, and so on.) -Merry
