Unofficial rules compendium

The martial artist is a specialist in unarmed combat. Unlike the true monk, they do not beleive in an inner force or spiritual purity - the power of their fists and the tricks they learn are enough.

Skills: 2 skill points per level. Class skills: Climb, Craft, Escape Artist, Heal, Jump, Knowledge (Arcana), Perform, Ride, and Swim.

Weapon and Armor Proficency: The martial artist is proficient with all simple and martial weapons. No proficiency with shields or any kind of armor.

Saving Throw Progression: Good saving throws for Fortitude and Reflex saves, poor saving throws for Will saves.

AC Bonus (Ex): When unarmored and unencumbered, the martial artist adds her Wisdom bonus (if any) to her AC. In addition, a martial artist gains a +1 bonus to AC at 5th level. This bonus increases by 1 for every five martial artist levels thereafter (+2 at 10th, +3 at 15th, and +4 at 20th level).

These bonuses to AC apply even against touch attacks or when the martial artist is flat-footed. She loses these bonuses when she is immobilized or helpless, when she wears any armor, when she carries a shield, or when she carries a medium or heavy load.

When multiclassing to a prestige class class that would ordinarily gain or use medium armor, you can forgo that armor proficiency and have levels in that class count for the purpose of armor class bonus.

Unarmed Attacks (ex): The martial artist gains the Improved Unarmed Combat feat as a bonus feat at level 1. A martial artist does greater unarmed damage than other characters, doing as much damage with an unarmed attack as an equivalent-level monk does. The martial artist can select to do either lethal or subdual damage with unarmed attacks. If the martial artist also has levels as a monk, these levels stack to determine unarmed damage. This ability replaces Weapon Training 1-4.

Evasion (Ex): At 3nd level and higher, a martial artist can avoid even magical and unusual attacks with great agility. If she makes a successful Reflex saving throw against an attack that normally deals half damage on a successful save, she instead takes no damage. Evasion can be used only if the martial artist is not wearing armor. A helpless martial artist does not gain the benefit of evasion. This ability replaces Armor Training 1-4.

Unarmored Mastery (ex): This works just like Armor Mastery, on ly the martial artist must be wearing no armor.

Improved Evasion (Ex) Gained at 20th level, this ability works like evasion, except that while the martial artist still takes no damage on a successful Reflex saving throw against attacks henceforth she takes only half damage on a failed save. A helpless martial artist does not gain the benefit of improved evasion. This ability replaces Weapon Mastery.
