A Soul Gem is is a jewel that has a soul bind spelltrap cast on it. When the wearer dies, his soul is trapped in the Soul Gem. An active Soul Gem glows dimly. When it actually holds a soul, it glows brightly.
The wearer cannot be resurrected, but can be transferred to a Soul Mech. It is thus only used by SoulMechs or those who want to become one when they die.
The cost for a Soul Gem is 7.650 credits for the spelltrap. The jewel itself costs 1.000 per character level capacity. It is possible to upgrade a Soul Gem to a higher level capacity by paying 1.000 credits per extra level.
