Unofficial rules compendium

The fencer is a fighter who specializes in light armor and weapons while still maintaining the fighter's focus on close and intense combat.

Skills

The fencer gains skill points per level equal to 4 + Int modifier.

Class skills: Acrobatics (Dex), Bluff (Cha), Climb (Str), Craft (Int), Handle Animal (Cha), Intimidate (Cha), Jump (Str), Ride (Dex), and Swim (Str).

Skills in italics are not on the normal figher's list of class skills. This replaces the fighter's bonus feat at first level.

Class Features

The fencer has all the standard fighter class features, except as noted below.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency

fencers are proficient with all simple and martial weapons and with light armor and shields (except tower shields).

Fencing

This ability replaces armor training. Fighting Panache (ex): When wearing light or no armor and not encumbered or heavily encumbered, the fencer can add his class level as a dodge bonus to Armor Class, but not exceeding his Charisma bonus. Note that dodge bonuses to armor class are lost whenever you lose your dexterity bonus to armor class, but the Uncanny Dodge ability of the fencer helps to offset this.

Single-weapon Stance (ex): At first level, the fencer adds a +1 shield bonus to armor class. This improves by +1 for every 4 levels (+1 at levels up to 3, +2 at levels 4-7, +3 at levels 8-11 and so on). The fencer must be using his weapon in one hand and cannot carry a shield or two weapons when using this stance.

Uncanny Dodge (Ex) Starting at 7th level, a fencer can react to danger before her senses would normally allow her to do so. She retains her Dexterity bonus to AC (if any) even if she is caught flat-footed or struck by an invisible attacker. However, she still loses her Dexterity bonus to AC if immobilized.
