The domain champion is a chosen agent of an ideal, the agent of a power with a very tight focus.

Class Information

This is a multiclass archetype.

Primary Class: Ranger.

Secondary Class: Cleric.

The domain champion has all the ranger's class features except as noted here. A domain champion cannot multiclass as a cleric, ranger, or with any of their subclasses or combination classes.

Alignment: Any.

Class Features

The domain champion has all the standard ranger class features, except as noted below.

Domain

Each domain champion selects one domain, a force or ideal whose champion she is. In addition to the normal domains, a domain ranger may also choose an animal or terrain domain.

A champion's domain influences what magic she can perform, her values, and how others see her. A domain champion can select an alignment domain (Chaos, Evil, Good, or Law) only if her alignment matches that domain. If a domain champion is devoted to a particular deity, she must select a domain her patron grants to clerics.

Each domain grants a number of domain powers, as well as a number of spells.

A domain champion gains the listed powers from her domain, if she is of a high enough level, and uses them as if she was a cleric of her domain champion level. A domain champion that is also a cleric or inquisitor can total her cleric, inquistor, and domain champion levels when using domain powers in domains shared among several classes, but not when casting spells. Unless otherwise noted, activating a domain power is a standard action.

Hunter's Bond

If the domain champion takes an animal companion from the nature's bond ability and also has a domain that grants an animal companion, he gets only one animal companion but it's abilities are based on a druid level equal to the domain champion's full level. The animal companion is of the type granted by the domain. If the domain grants a familiar, the domain champion can choose to have either an animal companion based on his full level (as above, taking the closest equivalent type of animal companion to the familiar he'd otherwise gain) or to have both a familiar and an animal companion according to the normal rules for each.

Spells

An domain champion casts divine spells drawn from a single domain. She can cast any spell she knows without preparing it ahead of time. To learn or cast a spell, an domain champion must have a Wisdom score equal to at least 10 + the spell level. The Difficulty Class for a saving throw against an domain champion’s spell is 10 + the spell’s level + the domain champion’s Wisdom modifier.

Like other spellcasters, an domain champion can cast only a certain number of spells per day of each spell level. Her base daily spell allotment is given on Table: Domain Champion. In addition, she receives bonus spells per day if she has a high Wisdom score (see Table: Ability Modifiers and Bonus Spells). When Table: Table: Domain Champion Spells Per Day indicates that the domain champion gets 0 spells per day of a given spell level, she gains only the bonus spells she would be entitled to based on her Wisdom score for that spell level.

Unlike other divine spellcasters, a domain champion’s selection of spells is extremely limited. A domain champion knows only the spells granted by her domain.

Domain champions do not need to provide a divine focus to cast spells that list divine focus (DF) as part of the components. Her spellcaster level is equal to her class level. A domain champion applies any metamagic feats she knows as she casts each spell, like an oracle or sorcerer.

Lost Class Abilities

Unlike the regular ranger, the domain champion is not a master of the wilderness, and lacks the following abilities:

  • Track
  • Wild Empathy
  • Endurance
  • Favored terrain
  • Hunter's Bond
  • Ranger spellcasting - the domain ranger has none of the regular ranger's spellcasting ability or spell list
  • Woodland Stride
  • Swift Tracker
  • Quarry
  • Camouflage
  • Hide in Plain Sight
  • Improved Quarry
  • Master Hunter

Variants

Multiple Domains

A certain few domain champions have two domains. A domain champion can trade the hunter's bond, evasion and improved evasion ability for another domain. The domain champion learns the domain spells and powers of this domain, but does not get any additional spell slots.

Charisma Casting

Certain domain champions use Charisma instead of Wisdom with their spellcasting and domain abilities. Replace all references to Wisdom in these abilities with Charisma.
