This is a Bard subclass for 5A. Essentially a cleric that is not a warrior, the chanter is an option if you want to play such roles.

Formally The College of Chanting, chanters are bards that focus on spiritual matters and music as a part of religion. Priests but not holy warriors, chanters lead congregations in song and transform the teachings of the faith into moving performances and easily understood morality plays.

Chanting as a part of religious practice is common in religion since time immemorial. It is hard to separate chanters from clerics in old tales, but scholars believe this collage is one of the oldest bard colleges.

Greyhawk: The old Great Kingdom was famous for its chanters, and the Republic of Andoran has taken up the tradition as a major element in their cult. But chanters exist in all religions everywhere since time immemorial.

Divine Classes

There are many sources of power in all the many worlds, but the most well-known and most respected is that of the divine. Some call this miracles, some say its astral magic, everyone agrees the healing and enhancements are nice. Clerics and Paladins are the masters of this magic, but others practice it as well in certain subclasses such as the barbarian Zealot, bard Chanter, fencer Legate, rogue Holy Slayer and Saint of Sinners, sorcerer Divine Soul, warlock Celestial Patron, and wizard Astral Magic and Theurgist.

Subclass Features

Chanting Spells

Starting at 3rd level when you join this bardic college, you learn additional spells when you reach certain levels as a bard, as shown on the Chanting Spells table. Each of these spells counts as a bard spell for you, but it doesn't count against the number of bard spells you know.

Whenever you gain a bard level, you can replace one spell you gained from this feature with another spell of the same level. The new spell must be from the bard or cleric spell list.

Bonus Proficiencies

When you become an chanter at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in Religion. If you already have this skill, you become proficient in History. If you have both these skills, you become proficient in a skill of your choice.

Cleric Spells

At 3rd level, your link to the divine allows you to cast spells normally associated with the cleric class. Add all cleric spells to your spell list. These spells are bard spells to you and you use Charisma as the spellcasting ability. You can use a holy symbol as a spell focus.

Divine Inspiration

At 6th level, you can gain temporary access to cleric spells through your Bardic Inspiration. As a bonus action, you expend a use of Bardic Inspiration and choose one cleric spell of a spell level you have spell slots for. Until the end of your current turn, you add this spell to your known spells and can cast it as normal using a spell slot. It counts as a bard spell for you. If the spell has a casting time longer than an action, you must begin casting the spell before the end of your current turn, but can continue and complete the spellcasting after the end of of your turn.

Divine Charisma

At 14th level, when a creature that can see and hear you succeeds at a saving throw against a cleric spell you cast, you can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration as a reaction to give them a penalty on the saving throw equal to the roll of your bardic inspiration die, potentially causing them to fail the saving throw.
