Unofficial rules compendium

The brave is a fighter trained in the Way of the Body. Thousands of hours of practice and grueling matches have made him a fighting machine of unmatched destruction. His body shows the effects of this training, becoming scarred, calloused, and often increasing in weight by as much as 50%.

The word brave brings to mind tribal warriors, but this archetype can also apply to pit fighters, gladiators, and sportsmen of civilized societies.

Class Abilities

The brave has all the class abilities of the fighter, except as noted below.

Class Skills

Acrobatics (Dex), Climb (Str), Escape Artist (Dex), Heal (Wis), Intimidate (Cha), Sense Motive (Wis), Survival (Wis), and Swim (Str).

Weapon and Armor Proficiency

The brave is proficient with all simple and martial weapons and with all kinds of shields (small, large, and wall shields). He is not proficient in any armor.

Way of the Body Armor Bonus (Ex)

As long as he is not wearing any armor, a brave gains a circumstance bonus to natural armor equal to her Constitution bonus. He can use shields normally and the bonus stacks with both natural armor and with enchantment bonuses to natural armor. This ability replaces Armor Training 4.

Unarmed Attacks (ex)

The brave gains the Improved Unarmed Combat feat as a bonus feat at level 1 and deals 1d6 (1d4 for a Small character) bludgeoning damage with an unarmed strike. This can be either lethal or nonlethal damage. A brave gains his full Strength bonus on all fist attacks, even if fighting with to fists.

Living Resilience

At level 3, the brave gains damage resistance 2/- against nonlethal damage only. This resistance increases by two at level 6, 10, 14, and 18, to a maximum of 10. This ability replaces Armor Training 1.

Living Armor

At 7th level and higher, all the brave's natural armor protects from incorporeal touch attacks, as if it had the ghost touch quality. This ability replaces Armor Training 2.

Uncanny Dodge

At 11th level, the brave reacts to danger with automated precisions and can no longer be caught flat-footed, nor does he lose his Dex bonus to AC if the attacker is invisible. He still loses her Dexterity bonus to AC if immobilized. A brave with this ability can still lose her Dexterity bonus to AC if an opponent successfully uses the feint action (see Combat) against him.

Unarmored Mastery (Ex)

This works just like Armor Mastery, only the brave must be wearing no armor. This bonus stacks with living resilience with respect to nonlethal damage.

Summary of Lost Class Abilities
