Bastard Sword

The bastard sword or claymore is slightly longer than a broad sword (over a meter in length) and has a handle made for two hands. It can be wielded one-handed, but is often used with two hands to deliver mighty blows to pierce the improving armor of its time. Variously known as the hand-and-a-half or Claymore. The term longsword can refer to this weapon, or to the broadsword, and it too generic to denote a specific weapon.
