New rules for animal companions and mounts. Revisions and changes are marked in brown text.
Rules
Instead of taking the listed benefit at 4th or 7th level, you can instead choose to increase the companion's Dexterity and Constitution by 2. When you do this, you still gain any special qualities or special attacks the increase in size would give. Sometimes the details of these abilities may change because of the smaller size, such as the damage of rake attacks.
Animal Companions
The following nee companions are available. Some are new, some are revised.
Where the name of a specific animal is given, that is the kind of animal the description is based on, but similar animals can use the same companion stat block.
Cat, Big (Lion)
Starting Statistics
Size Medium; Speed 40 ft.; AC +1 natural armor; Attack bite (1d6), 2 claws (1d4); Ability Scores Str 13, Dex 17, Con 13, Int 2, Wis 15, Cha 6; Special Attacks pounce; Special Qualities low-light vision, scent.
7th-Level Advancement
Size Large; AC +2 natural armor; Attack bite (1d8), 2 claws (1d6); Ability Scores Str +8, Dex –2, Con +4; Special Attacks grab, rake (2 claws 1d6).
