The hero's current ship is the Man's Promise, a prize vessel taken from a Zindian crew that apparently had changed hands numerous times before.
The Ship
The Man's Promise is a three-masted sailing ship, 100 feet long from stem to stern, and 30 feet wide amidships. The ship needs a minimum crew of 20.
The Officers
Sorted by section, not by rank.
- Mr. Plugg: Captain,. Used to be the Wormwood’s bullying and sadistic first mate.
- Master Scourge: First mate, former boatswain and master-at-arms. Mr. Plugg’s right-hand man.
- Owlbear Hartshorn: Simpleton and “pet” of Mr. Plugg.
- Cut-Throat Grok: Bosun. The Wormwood’s quartermaster, a no-nonsense character with a huge scar across her neck.

- Conchobhar Turlach Shortstone (swab): Gnome pirate wannabee.
- Crimson “Cog” Cogward (swab): Angry human.
- Giffer Tibbs (swab): a bedraggled gnome with one eye.
- Jack Scrimshaw (swab): a young lad talented at scrimshaw.
- Rosie Cusswell (swab): Halfling strongwoman.
- Sandara Quinn (swab): Cleric of Besmara the Pirate Queen.
- Aretta Bansion (swab): a bad tempered ex-harlot with big ears.
- Fipps Chumlett (swab): a fat, pushy bully with a shaved head.
- Jaundiced Jape (swab): a humorless, greedy half-orc mute.
- Barefoot Samms Toppin (rigger): a former fisherwoman from the Sodden Lands who never wears shoes.
- Maheem (rigger): a big Zindian with a permanent scowl.
- Slippery Syl Lonegan (rigger): an unhinged murderer who fled to sea to escape the gallows.
- Tam “Narwhal” Tate (rigger): an old friend of Master Scourge with a large, ugly nose.
