Grippli] live in rivers, marshes, and ponds in Nippon and Nippon territories. They are related to kappa and shibaten and generally get along well with them. Grippli are much more reclusive that shibaten and tend to live on cliffs, deep in swamps, or in other areas few other humanoids would want to live.
Grippli in Nippon speak Common and Grippli, and have Catfolk, Celestial, Draconic, Goblin, Sylvan, Tengu, Vanara, and Yutu as bonus languages. Nipponese grippli are specialized farmers and fishermen of lakes swamps, and rivers. Some work as pearl divers. They are generally of low casters, but some grippli populations have grippli lords. These are seen more as yakuza than buke.
