In the Dragon Empire, many clerics have observed that dragons cast divine spells spontaneously. Striving to emulate this ability, a Dragon Mystic seeks unity with the draconic essence and learns to cast divine spells almost as dragons do.

Dragon Mystics devote themselves to mystical exercises that leave them full of spiritual energy. Dragon Mystics range from the secluded priest living in a monastery to hermits in the wilderness. Some Dragon Mystics are fonts of learning, while others are skilled in survival and meditation in solitude. The archetypal Dragon Mystic is kind and good, but some hermits have been driven mad by their solitude, and some monastics are crazed with lust and dreams of power.

Dragon Mystics seek to emulate dragons in many ways. One of these is in the accumulation and display of wealth. A Dragon Mystic prefers to wear robes made out of cloth-of-gold, jeweled rosaries, silver polished helmets and so on.

Only divine spellcasters can become Dragon Mystics.

Requirements:

To qualify as an Dragon Mystic, the character must fulfill all the following criteria.

Skills: Concentration: 8 ranks, Knowledge (religion): 2 ranks

Spellcasting: Ability to cast 1 st level divine spells.

Class Skills: The Dragon Mystic's class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Appraise (Int), Concentration (Con), Intimidate (Cha), Knowledge (religion) (Int), Profession (Wis), Scry (Int, restricted skill), and Spellcraft (Int),

Skill Points at Each Level: 2 +Int modifier.

Class Features

All of the following are class features of the Dragon Mystic prestige class. Hit Die: d4

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: The Dragon Mystic gains no new weapon or armor proficiencies. He also suffers from arcane spell failure when using the Draconic wisdom class ability, and the Aura of Serenity ability is negated if the character wears more than light armor or wields martial weapons.

Class Progression: The Dragon Mystic continues to advance in all the special abilities of one previous divine spellcaster class, including spell ability, turning undead, wild shape and all other class abilities. He uses and learns these abilities as a character of his combined levels as an Dragon Mystic and his previous class.

Aura of Serenity (Su): If the Dragon Mystic appears so majestic he is at all times protected by a sanctuary spell. The DC for the Will save is 10 +Dragon Mystic level +wisdom bonus. This ability can be dispelled or broken (per the spell description), and takes one minute of quiet meditation to reestablish.

Draconic Wisdom (Ex): The Dragon Mystic may substitute any spell off his spell list for one of his prepared spells of a level lower than his level as an Dragon Mystic, and equal to or lower than the spell replaced. When he does so, the Dragon Mystic suffers the risk of arcane spell failure if he wears armor, just as if he was casing an arcane spell. If the character wishes to apply metamagic feats to a spontaneously cast spell, casting time is increased as for a sorcerer (see Core Rulebook I, page 78). Domain spells can still only be cast using domain spell slots, and vice-versa.

Bonus Feats: Every three levels, the Dragon Mystic may learn one extra divine or metamagic feat.
