Lasting Summons (Metamagic)

You can make your summons last for hours.

Benefit: You extend the duration of a summoning spell with a duration of 1 round/level or more to 1 hour/level. A creature summoned this way will not attack enemies even if you order it to. Instead it will serve as a bodyguard, lookout, assistant, servant, or even as a mount, aiding you and your team as best it can. Unless busy with some task, it will try to stay between you and enemies, and attacking only creatures that directly try to harm you or move adjacent to you.

The summoned creature does its best to judge if a creature is hostile or not, but unless you instruct it that someone is not an enemy, it will regard all creatures as hostile if their allegiance is in doubt. This can cause all kinds of problems.

Level Increase: +1 (a lasting summons spell uses up a spell slot one level higher than the spell's actual level.)

You can use Lasting Summons to summon a creature that will act as a normal summoned creature, but this increases the level increase of the feat to +2.

Special: A summoner can use this to affect his summon monster spell-like ability, reducing the numeral of the summoning ability instead of increasing the effective spell level.
