Certain swashbucklers fight with such confidence that their style and lack of worry makes them almost impervious, as if they were armored in their own panache. The blade of panache is less focused on killing or disabling opponents, preferring to show off and humiliate, but they can be lethal when the situation calls for it. The blade of panache is a martial artist of the way of life.

Class Information

The blade of panache is an archetype for the swashbuckler hybrid class.

Starting Money: 2d6 × 10 gp (average 70 gp)

Hit Die: d10.

Class Features

This archetype has all normal class features, except as noted.

Armored in Style (Ex)

While the blade of panache is wearing light or no armor and not using a shield (bucklers are allowed), a blade of panache adds 1 point of Charisma bonus (if any) per swashbuckler class level as a dodge bonus to CMD and Armor Class. If the blade of panache is caught flat-footed or otherwise denied her Dexterity bonus to armor class, she also loses this bonus. This replaces the dodging panache deed and the utility lost in nimble.

Deeds of Panache (Ex)

A blade of panache gains the following deeds.

Blade Whip (Ex): At 3rd level, while the blade of panache has at least 1 panache point and is wielding a light or one-handed melee weapon, the blade of panache can inflict nonlethal damage without the usual -4 attack penalty. This replaces the swashbuckler initiative deed.

Uncanny Panache (Ex): At 7th level, while the blade of panache has at least 1 panache point, she gains the benefits of the uncanny dodge rogue class feature. This is not cumulative with the evasive deed, the blade of panache only gains uncanny dodge once.

Panache Maneuver (Ex): At 7th level the blade of panache can expend one panache point to add a bonus to a combat maneuver equal to his Charisma modifier. This bonus also applies as a bonus to armor class against an any attack of opportunity triggered by the combat maneuver. Alternatively, the blade of panache can expend one panache point to add her Charisma bonus to combat maneuver defense until the end of her next turn. Using panache maneuver is not an action. This replaces the targeted strike deed.

Sap Will (Ex): At 11th level the blade of panache can expend one panache point to use Bluff to feint or Intimidate to demoralize as a swift action. If she chooses demoralize, she can also use Intimidate to demoralize each opponent she hits during her current turn as a free action. This replaces the bleeding wound deed.

Charmed Life (Ex)

It is not an action for the blade of panache to use charmed life; it can be used at any time.

Nimble (Ex)

At 3rd level, a blade of panache gains a +1 dodge bonus to AC while wearing light or no armor and not using any shield (not even a buckler). Anything that causes the swashbuckler to lose her Dexterity bonus to AC also causes her to lose this dodge bonus. This bonus increases by 1 for every 4 levels beyond 3rd (to a maximum of +5 at 19th level).
