This gray bird is the size of a dog, standing on two powerful legs, and with a long curved neck. It runs towards you with wings spread, making it look much larger than it is.

Rhea are flightless birds similar to small rheaes. Certain breeds are larger, up to Medium size. Males caring for the young become very territorial. Rheas have wings that they spread to shield themselves and to become more intimidating. They also use the wings like sails when running.
