Theurgist (Apath)
Unofficial rules compendium | |

Not all sacredotes are religious – some view the divine from an entirely theoretical viewpoint. Studying the astral plane and its energies rather than theology, these scholars sometimes call themselves astral magicians. They study divine powers in a scholarly way and have a spellbook.
Class Information
This is a sacredote archetype.
Hit Dice: d6.
Class Abilities
This archetype has all normal class abilities, except as noted.
Alignment and Code of Conduct
An astral magician is not religious, follows no religious dogma, and has no code of conduct. They can pick spells and domains regardless of their own alignment. Casting an aligned spell is still an action of that alignment, and doing so a lot can cause an alignment change, just as it can for any spellcaster. This replaces the alignment restrictions on spells.
Divine Focus
An astral magician uses a mystical symbol of his own choice as a divine focus.
Domain Access
An astral magician does not gain domain powers. An astral magician has access to all spells on any domain's list of spells, and can learn and cast these spells as domain spells, in addition to mage armor. They can learn spells from any alignment domain. This is a modification to the domain ability.
Spellbook
The astral magician has a spellbook, just like a wizard. A level one astral magician starts with all of the standard level zero cleric spells (orisons) and three level one spells from the cleric spell list, plus a number of level one cleric spells equal to his Intelligence modifier from personal research and excellence as a student. He also knows all 1st level spells from his domains. Each level the astral magician advances, he learns two new cleric spells and two new domain spells for free, representing his magical study. Any additional spells must be scribed in the same manner a wizard does.
Astral magicians can learn and use the Spell mastery feat, just like a wizard can. Like a wizard, an astral magician can prepare read magic from memory alone.

In addition to the stated number of spells per day for 1st- through 9th-level spells, a teurge gets an equal number of domain spells for each spell level, starting at 1st. The "x+x" in the entries on this table represents these extra spells. Bonus spells the teurge may receive for having a high wisdom score apply to both regular spells and domain spells separately and is thus applied twice.
