The survivalist is a mundane ranger, focusing on skills and training rather than alliances with spirits and the spells they grant.
Animal Bond (Ex)
At 1st level, the survivalist gains an animal companion, like that of a druid of his level. This replaces the Hunter's Bond ability.
Fast Movement (Ex)
At 4th level, a survivalist’s land speed is faster than the norm for her race by +10 feet. This benefit applies only when he is wearing no armor, light armor, or medium armor, and not carrying a heavy load. Apply this bonus before modifying the survivalist’s speed because of any load carried or armor worn. This bonus stacks with any other bonuses to the survivalist's land speed except the barbarian's fast movement ability.
Climb Speed
At 10th level, the survivalist gains a climb speed of 20 ft. He also gains a +8 bonus on Climb checks and can take 10 on Climb rolls even in combat or under stressful conditions.
Swim Speed
At 13th level, the survivalist gains a swim speed of 20 ft. He also gains a +8 bonus on Swim checks and can take 10 on Swim rolls even in combat or under stressful conditions.
No Spells
These abilities replace the ranger’s spells class feature. Survivalists do not gain any spells or spellcasting ability, do not have a caster level, and cannot use spell trigger and spell completion magic items.
