THe monk is listed in the first class column because it has full base attack bonus with unarmed attacks, monk weapons, and and combat maneuvers - and a monk should only be doing these kinds of attacks. It also makes the table neater.
Flurry of Blows
The monk can use the Flurry of Blows ability as a standard action or as part of a charge action, but when doing so they cannot make any iterative attacks.
