The fencer is a fighter who specializes in light armor and weapons while still maintaining the fighter's focus on close and intense combat. This is a martial arts style of the Way of the Mind.
Skills
Add Acrobatics (Dex) and Bluff (Cha) to the fencer's class skills:
Class Features
The fencer has all the standard fighter class features, except as noted below.
Weapon and Armor Proficiency
Fencers are proficient with all simple and martial weapons and with light armor and shields (except tower shields).
Armor training (Ex)
Starting at 3rd level, a fencer learns to be more maneuverable while wearing light armor. Whenever he is wearing light armor, he reduces the armor check penalty by 1 (to a minimum of 0) and increases the maximum Dexterity bonus allowed by his armor by 1. Every four levels thereafter (7th, 11th, and 15th), these bonuses increase by +1 each time, to a maximum –4 reduction of the armor check penalty and a +4 increase of the maximum Dexterity bonus allowed.
Canny Defense (Ex)
When wearing light or no armor and not using a large or tower shield, a fencer adds 1 point of Intelligence bonus (if any) per fencer class level as a dodge bonus to CMD and Armor Class while wielding a melee weapon. If a fencer is caught unarmed or is flat-footed or otherwise denied her Dexterity bonus, she also loses this bonus. A fencer with the Improved Unarmed Combat feat is never considered unarmed.
Single-Weapon Defense (ex)
The fencer learns to maintain a guard using only one hand. The fencer adds a +1 shield bonus to armor class. This improves by +1 for every 4 levels (+1 at levels up to 3, +2 at levels 4-7, +3 at levels 8-11 and so on). The fencer must be using a melee weapon in one hand and cannot carry a shield or use two weapons with this stance.
Uncanny Dodge (Ex)
Starting at 7th level, a fencer can react to danger before her senses would normally allow her to do so. She retains her Dexterity bonus to AC (if any) even if she is caught flat-footed or struck by an invisible attacker. However, she still loses her Dexterity bonus to AC if immobilized.
Improved Uncanny Dodge (Ex)
A fencer of 11th level or higher can no longer be flanked.
This defense denies a rogue the ability to sneak attack the character by flanking her, unless the attacker has at least four more rogue levels than the target has fencer levels.
If a character already has uncanny dodge (see above) from another class, the levels from the classes that grant uncanny dodge stack to determine the minimum rogue level required to flank the character.
Fencing Mastery (Ex)
At 20th level, as long as he wields a melee weapon, the fencer gains a DR 5/-. This ability replaces armor mastery.
