An element druid is focused on a single element to master, gaining spells and summoing creatures of that element. She gains the ability to invoke the powers of this element, at the cost of losing access to other elements.
Class Information
This is a druid archetype
Hit Die: d8.
Class Features
The element druid has all the druid's class features, except as described here.
Element Focus (Ex)
The element druid must select one element to focus on; air, earth, fire, or water. This affects her spell list and her element bond, element empathy, element summons, and resist element's lure abilities.
An element druid loses access to certain spells, depending in her elemental focus.
Air acid, cold, earth, fire, and water.
Earth air, cold, electricity, fire, and water.
Fire acid, air, cold, earth, electricity, and water.
Water acid, air, earth, electricity, and fire.
Spells with these subtypes or descriptors are not on her spell list and she cannot use spell trigger and spell completion items based on these spells, except by using Use Magic Device.
Bonus Languages
An element druid knows the language of her elemental focus: Aquam (the language of water elements), Auram (air elements), Ignam (fire elements), or Terram (earth elements). This is a free language for an element druid; that is, he knows it in addition to his regular allotment of languages and it doesn't take up a language slot.
An element druid can also learn druidic, a secret language known only to druids. This choice is in addition to the bonus languages available to the character because of her race. Element druids are forbidden to teach this language to non-druids. Druidic has its own alphabet. This replaces the druid's bonus languages.
Element Bond (Ex)
If the element druid selects an animal companion for her nature bond class feature, that companion gains a simple elemental template appropriate to her element focus; the same as animals she summons with element summons gain.
If the element druid selects a domain, she can choose two domains from the following domains and subdomains, depending on her chosen elemental focus:
Air Air (Cloud, Weather), Eagle (animal domain), Vulture (animal domain), Weather (Seasons, Storms).
Earth Badlands (terrain domain), Cave (terrain domain), Earth (Caves), Mountain (terrain domain).
Fire Dessert (terrain domain), Fire (Arson, Ash, Smoke), Healing (Restoration), Plains (terrain domain).
Water Aquatic (terrain domain), Arctic (terrain domain), Plant (Decay, Growth), Water (Flowing, Ice, Oceans, Rivers).
This is a modification of nature bond.
Element Empathy (Ex)
An element druid can improve the attitude of a creature with a subtype matching her elemental focus and an Intelligence of 4 or less. This ability functions just like a Diplomacy check made to improve the attitude of a person. The element druid rolls 1d20 and adds +4, her element druid level, and her Charisma modifier to determine the wild empathy check result.
Such creatures generally have an initial attitude of unfriendly.
To use element empathy, the druid and the creature must be able to study each other, which means that they must be within 30 feet of one another under normal conditions. Generally, influencing a creature in this way takes 1 minute but, as with influencing people, it might take more or less time.
Element Summons (Ex)
An element druid can only summon animals and creatures of a subtype matching her element focus [air, earth, fire, or water] when using summoning spells and abilities. All animals summoned by the element druid gain the simple element creature template matching her element focus:
Air Simple Template: Aerial Creature.
Earth Simple Template: Chthonic Creature.
Fire Simple Template: Fiery Creature.
Water Simple Template: Aqueous Creature.
Element Shape (Su)
At 4th level an element druid gains the ability to assume the form of a small elemental of a subtype matching her element focus, as elemental body I.
An element druid can use this ability an additional time per day at 6th level and every two levels thereafter, for a total of eight times at 18th level. At 20th level, an element druid can use element shape at will.
At 8th level, an element druid can change into a Medium elemental, as elemental body II.
At 10th level, an element druid can change into a Large elemental, as elemental body III.
At 12th level, an element druid can change into a Huge elemental, as elemental body IV.
This is a modification to wild shape. Any ability that works with wild shape into elemental forms works with elemental shape.
Resist Element's Lure (Ex)
Starting at 5th level, an element druid gains a +4 bonus on saving throws against the spell-like and supernatural abilities of creatures with the acid, air, cold, earth, electricity, elemental, fire, or water descriptors and to spells with these descriptors. This replaces resist nature's lure.
Elemental Nature (Su)
At 13th level, an element druid can take on an elemental aspect while retaining her own form. She gains a simple elemental template appropriate to her element focus; the same as animals she summons with element summons gain. She can turn this ability on and off as a free action. Elemental nature replaces a thousand faces.
