This is a Monk monastic tradition for 5A.

Some monks strive to break harmony and create strife with their peers. Monks of the Way of Irreverence seek to unbalance their opponents, relying on an opponent's weakness of spirit over their own strength and on their own body more than their own mind.

Greyhawk: Another successor style that emerged after the breakup of the Scarlet Brotherhood, the Way of Irreverence has become popular among renegade scarlet brothers and worldly pugilists alike.

Subcass Abilities

Taunting Boast

Beginning at 3rd level, your irreverence blooms, allowing you to expend 1 ki point as a bonus action to cast Vicious Mockery. When you hit with an unarmed attack, you can spend 1 ki to cast this spell without spending any action. The save DC is your ki saving throw DC. Even on a failed save, the creature can still attack you without suffering disadvantage. A creature that passes its saving throw against this ability cannot be affected again until the start of your next turn.

Powerful Life

At 6th level, your control over your life force also allows you to spend 1 ki point as a bonus action to spend a Hit Die and recover Hit Points equal to the result plus your Constitution modifier.

Life is Fluid

At 11th level, your ability to exploit your own body and an opponent's weakness increases further, allowing you to manipulate life energy in yourself and others.

  • Share Life. By spending up to 3 ki points as an action you can give a single creature you touch up to 3 of your Hit Dice at a cost of 1 ki point each. A creature at 0 hit points may immediately spend any granted Hit Dice to recover Hit Points.
  • Steal Life. When you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack, you can use your reaction to spend up to 3 ki points to rupture its ki and tear its life force away. The creature takes force damage equal to your Wisdom modifier + 1d8 per ki point spent, and for every 5 force damage dealt you regain 1 Hit Die. After using this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a long or short rest.

Stop the Flow

Starting at 17th level, your ability to manipulate ki reaches its peak and becomes an example of true horror. As an action you can spend 3 ki points and make an unarmed attack against a creature. On a successful hit the creature becomes immune to healing of any kind and loses access to any life-manipulating abilities such as ki, spells which heal allies, and necromantic spells or effects. The creature has disadvantage on saving throws against effects that deal slashing, piercing, or poison damage, and it loses any immunity to slashing or piercing damage, poison, or disease it may have possessed. This effect lasts for a number of days equal to your monk level. Once you have used this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest.

Editor's Notes

Repurposed to not be based on bloodline and Charisma, this is now a more normal monastic discipline.
