Obsidian is a volcanic glass used for weapons by advanced stone-age cultures. It is a much superior to stone and/or bone, very sharp but very frail. It is possible to make daggers, hand axes, arrowheads, and spearheads out of obsidian. Hafted obsidian weapons function normally, while obsidian daggers have a hardness of 5 and 2 hit points.
Obsidian weapons function as steel weapons, but cost twice as much.
The maucatl is a special weapon only made of obsidian. It is a wooden club fitted with obsidian shards on both sides, forming a serrated edge. It has the weapon characteristics of a scimitar, costs 30 gp, has a hardness of 5, and 10 hit points.
