An iron wizard is a wizard in armor.

Class Information

This is a wizard archetype.

Hit Dice: d6.

Class Abilities

This archetype has all normal class abilities, except as noted.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency

An iron wizard is proficient with all simple weapons. An iron wizard is also proficient with light and medium armor. He can cast wizard spells while wearing light or medium armor without incurring the normal arcane spell failure chance. Like any other arcane spellcaster, an iron wizard wearing heavy armor or a shield incurs a chance of arcane spell failure if the spell in question has a somatic component. A multiclass iron wizard still incurs the normal arcane spell failure chance for arcane spells received from other classes. This replaces arcane school.

Bonded Armor (Ex)

If an iron wizard's has a familiar, that familiar shares any armor proficiencies the iron wizard has. An iron wizard with a bonded object can select a part of an suit of armor as a bonded object (usually a gorget or bracer). This part can be moved from one set of armor to another, making each set of armor count as a bonded object. Any enchantments on the bonded armor-part is transferred to a new set of armor.

Magic Vestment

Add magic vestment to the iron wizard's spell list as a third level spell.

Heavy Armor (Ex)

At 8th level, an iron wizard gains proficiency with heavy armor. An iron wizard can cast wizard spells while wearing heavy armor without incurring the normal arcane spell failure chance. Like any other arcane spellcaster, an iron wizard using a shield incurs a chance of arcane spell failure if the spell in question has a somatic component.
