For example, if the pure cleric uses a silver holy symbol worth 25 gp, she do not have to provide material components for a spell if its components are worth 25 gp or less. Pure clerics believe in one great divine principle, that does not concern itself with the minutiae of the world as expressed in domains. To them, focusing on domains is to the detriment of genuine divine power. Pure clerics are common in monotheistic and philosophical religions. Note that religions that have pure clerics can still have subsidiary gods or saints can have regular clerics that use domains. Thus clerics and pure clerics can coexist in the same faith, but may be at odds with one another.

Class Information

This is a cleric archetype

Hit Die: d8.

Class Abilities

The following class abilities are affected by this archetype:

Maximized Heal/Inflict

When a pure cleric uses a cure/inflict spell, they are treated as if they were maximized, making the amount of damage healed or inflicted the maximum possible. This does not stack with the Maximize Spell metamagic feat.

No Domains

The pure cleric lacks domains and domain spell slots.

Pure Focus (Ex)

As long as she has her divine focus, a pure cleric needs less of the trapping of the mundane world to cast spells. By using a divine focus as part of casting, she can cast any spell with a material component costing the value of that divine focus (maximum 100 gp) or less without needing that component. For example, if the pure cleric uses a silver holy symbol worth 25 gp, she do not have to provide material components for a spell if its components are worth 25 gp or less. If the spell requires a material component that costs more than the value of the divine focus, the pure cleric must have the material component on hand to cast the spell, as normal.

Divine Gift (Su)

A pure cleric receives the divine gift ability at level 2. Once per day the pure cleric can cast any one spell that she is capable of casting. This spell is cast without expending a prepared spell, even if the spell is not prepared. It is treated like any other spell, including casting time, duration, and other effects dependent on the cleric's level. This spell cannot be modified by metamagic feats or other abilities. The pure cleric must have a divine focus to use this ability.

Endless Well

At level 4, a pure cleric can use channeled energy to restore spells she has already cast this day, including one gained from divine gift or used to power spontaneous casting. By expanding a use of channel energy as a swift action, the pure cleric can restore prepared spells at the rate of one spell level per die of energy she normally channels. She must restore at least two different spells each time she uses this ability, and it cannot be used to restore orisons.

Example: Bridgin is a 6th level pure cleric who has cast all her spells for the day. She can use endless well to restore a total of 3 levels of spells she has used today. This can be three first level spells or one first and one second level spell. She cannot restore a third level spell, that would leave her unable to restore a second spell and thus is not allowed.

Bonus Faith Feats

At level 6, and every four levels after that, the pure cleric gains a bonus feat. This must be a channeling, item creation, or metamagic feat.

Versatile Channel (Su)

At 8th level, a pure cleric’s channel energy can instead affect a 60-foot cone or a 120-foot line.

Aura of Serenity (Su)

If You Meet The Buddha On The Road, Kill Him—Attributed to Zen Master Linji.

A pure cleric of 12th level can use sanctuary at will. This is a full-round action, and lasts until broken by an action from the pure cleric. The save DC against this ability is 10 + ½ the pure cleric's level + Wisdom modifier. The pure cleric can renew the effect by spending another full-round action, which forces even those who passed the will save to save again.

True Faith

At 16th level and higher, increase the pure cleric's caster level by two. This improves the effects of her spells and her caster level checks. Likewise her spells become harder to dispel.

Abundant Skies

At level 20, when using the endless well ability, the pure cleric can replace expended spells with any spell that fits in that spell slot, not just a spell that was cast earlier in the day.
