Background

Gedney was a part of the original Miscatonic University expedition to the Mountains of Madness. He survived the elder things' attack, and eventually befriended his captors. When new humans arrived, he succueesfully negotiated a peace settlement and arranged for an excahne of ambassadors, with himself as a self-proclaimed ambassador to humanity.

Sadly, once home, he was judged insane and confined to Arkham Asylum. Part of the reason for this was his refusal to cooperate with Insight.
