Background

A poet, an alchoholic and formerly possessed, much of Hardings psychis instability depends on the fact that his mind was touched by the "thing that waits". The creature has created a connection between Harding and the Outer Void; Harding still has frightening visions and occasional maddening insights.

If released from the sanatorium, he will still need nursing, but can become quite a poet.
