Most wizards are devoted to their art. The unorthodox wizard realizes that the laws of wizardry are not the laws of the universe, and strive to combine wizardry with other activities and studies. Intelligent and driven, many unorthodox wizards advance far in another career. As they grow in power this often becomes a high-responsibility and orderly task such as chancellor or auditor. But at heart, the unorthodox wizard remains open-minded and curious, always ready to learn.

Class Skills

Appraise (Int), Craft (Int), Diplomacy (Cha), Disable Device (Int*), Fly (Dex), Handle Animal (Cha), Heal (Wis), Intimidate (Cha), Knowledge (All) (Int), Linguistics (Int), Perception (Wis), Perform (Cha), Profession (Int*), Ride (Dex), Sense Motive (Wis), Sleight Of Hand (Dex), Spellcraft (Int), Survival (Wis), Swim (Str), and Use Magic Device (Int*).

4 skill points per level. The increased class skills and skill points replace arcane school. The Disable Device, Profession, and Use Magic Device skills (marked *) use Intelligence rather than their normal attribute, per the analytic mind ability, below.

Class Abilities

The unorthodox wizard has all the standard wizard's class abilities except as noted below.

Analytic Mind (Ex)

The unorthodox wizard applies his mind to the study of all kinds of devices and situations. He can use Intelligence as the attribute modifier of the Disable Device, Profession, and Use Magic Device skills. The unorthodox wizard can use Disable Device to disarm magic traps. This replaces Scribe Scroll.

Unorthodox Spell

A unorthodox wizard is able to learn spells foreign to normal wizards. At second level and every two levels after, the unorthodox wizard can add one spell from the witch spell list to his spell list and spellbook at its witch spell level. This spell must be of a lower spell leven than the highest the unorthodox wizard's can cast. This starts with a level zero witch spell (cantrip) at level 2 and increases by one spell level every 2 levels. Unorthodox spell replaces bonus feats.
