The Imperial Monk is in most respects identical to the monk described in the Starfarer's Handbook, page 42, but there are some changes.

Technical Proficency

An Imperial Monk has automatic access to the Technical Proficency feat.

Alignment restriction

An Imperial Monk need not be lawful, they can have any alignment they wish. In fact, many of them are actually chaotic loners striving for individual perfection, while others are strict neutrals striving for detachment from the world.

Weapon Limitations

These are all monk weapons for the Imperial Monk, and all Imperial Monks are proficient with them. An Imperial Monk can use Flurry of Blows when armed with two monk weapons, a monk double weapon, or by making the extra attack unarmed.

  • Shatterglove (Imperial Supply, page 50)
  • Shockpalm (Imperial Supply, page 50)

Armor Limitations

When using a suit of armor with no chance of arcane spell failure, like a flight suit, an Imperial Monk may use all class abilities at no penalty. Armor check penalties still applies to skills, and when using armor without proficiency. This combines well with the Armor Adaption feat.

Monk Feats

Many Imperial Monks choose to learn the Gun Fu feat and learn to incorporate pistols into their martial arts styles. Others learn the Weapon Kata feat to incorporate advanced melee weapons into their style. The Armor Adaption and Flying Kick feats are also highly useful for monks.

Revised Skill List

This skill list includes the new skills, as well as those from the PHB. It is not a revision, just a compilation.
