Introduction
We have decided to use the new edition of the rules (3.5) for the game this autumn - using summer break to work over the campaign.
This page lists upcoming changes to the campaign in order to make it compatible with the edition 3.5 rules. The new edition is a definite improvement.
We will try to make any changes to our champaign available here in advance for the benefit of our players. There will homefully be no (or at least few :-) first game turn surprise rules.
Rulebooks
We will probably buy an extra Players Handbook 3.5 or two and make these available to our players.
Old Pages
Many pages that have been revised have an old version saved for backup purposes. Such pages have the same name, with "3.0" appended at the end. So, for example, there is an ImperialRanger3.0 page.
Skills
The UrbanLore skill is now obsolete, as scrounging is covered by the Survival skill.
Classes
All the classes will get minor revisions - such as an adaprion of the new feat and skill lists. The 3.5 bard, monk, and paladin has undergone major revisions, which will impact how they work here, too. Check out the ImperialBard, ImperialMonk, ImperialPaladin, and ImperialBlackguard. The changes are not as drastic as those of the ranger, however.
Imperial Ranger
There is a new variant of the ImperialRanger updated for the 3.5 edition rules. It is based on the 3.5 ranger, and has major differences from the old class - but is still a non spellusing, skilled soldier with good outdoorsy skills.
Imperial Sorcerer
The ImperialSorcerer now has access to the Intimidate skill (our change) - as well as Bluff (gained in 3.5. It also has the ability to change certain old spells as they advance in level.
Gear
Spellware
In the DMG 3.5 skill bonuses from magic items have been halved. This means that Spellware must be reviewed. We have created a SpellwareGuide which contains a summary of all Spellware items and their effects.
Weapon Tables
Weapons are now made for a specific size, and are classified as light, one-handed or two-handed. This means that there is no longer a "shortsword". Instead there is a small shortsword (d4 damage), medium shortsword (d6), etc. The same applies to energy weapons.
We have updated our WeaponGuide to reflect this.
Grenades (including underslung grenade launcers) don't change size or effect.
Feats
There are many new feats in 3.5, and many of the feats from the splatbooks are now in the new Player's Handbook and in our FeatGuide. Few feats have become obsolete, however. A few have major revisions: CrackShot is the main point. Ambidexterity is now an obsolete feat, included in the benefts of Two Weapon Fighting and Two gun Shooting, respectively.
