Boarding Harness

This is not something you put into an aeroplane; it is a piece of personal gear.

The Boarding Harness is a rotating bar with two spheres on the end, usually strapped to the back of the parachute of those trying to board a zeppelin. It creates a directional magnetic field, whose polarization can be reversed to either attract or repel ferrous objects. The duraluminium frame of a zeppelin contains just enough iron to do the trick.

Using this schtick, it is much easier to drop on top of a zeppelin. First, you use attraction to draw yourself to the zeppelin, they you switch to repulsion in order to slow the fall as you approach.
