Speeding

In general, as long as a plane decreases it's Speed, there is no need to push the Speed envelope. This means that a plane that has it's Maximum Speed reduced by damage, or that pushed way beyond maximum speed in a previous turn, can fly on using momentum without needing to make a push roll. The mandatory Speed reduction means that such bursts of speed last only a short while.

A pilot that wishes to push his aircraft's speed over a long distance, during pursuit and interception, while not on the gameboard, may do so. Roll once every ten minutes. Use the normal rules, but increase the difficulty by twice the extra amount. After the push, the plane takes damage regardless of whether it was a success or not.

Example:
A scenario specifies that reinforcements will arrive on turn 10, minus two turns for each point of speed of the planes. Wanting to get into combat real quick, a pilot pushes his speed by two, thus arriving four turns earlier, but with two fractures in the engine's location.
