Aiming; Sixth Sense vs. Steady Hand

Steady Hand is in many ways the most important skill in Crimson Skies, because the ability to move damage is so devastating. Dogfights involving skilled pilots are often resolved in a single salvo. At the same time, the values six and nine are very, very important, as it is at these values that you get to move the damage template. To alleviate these problems, the following rule is suggested.

Differentiated Aiming Bonus

Pilots learn to concentrate hits; hence damage is easier to move towards the centerline of a plane than away from it. To reflect this, the following table for Steady Hand and aiming is introduced.

Steady Hand Adjust Inwards Adjust Outwards
1-5
6 1
7 1 1
8 2 1
9 2 2
10 2 2

Sixth Sense vs. Steady Hand

To give skilled pilots a defense against the aiming abilities of others, those with high Sixth Sense skill get to reduce the Steady Hand bonus of their opponents. For each point of Sixth Sense beyond 5, reduce the effective Steady Hand of those shooting at you by one.
