Description

Orks are big, sturdy folk with powerful muscles. Their faces are coarse, with pronounced lips, chins and pointy ears. This, along with sharp fangs and claw-like nails, gives them a bestial appearance. Few are beautiful, though not so few are impressive or even majestic. They have an affinity for earth, and have a variety of earth-tones for skin. Brown, green and brick red are all common.

They work hard, but tend to be clannish, honoring local authority and leaders over centralized government. Unfortunately, many Orks are not so bright and self-confident, so they often fare poorly in cosmopolitan Zakhara. This fuels the Orkish tendency towards provincialism, as well as a general feeling of discontentment. Orks often find themselves on the fringes of society, as warriors, bandits or thieves.

Orks are a relatively new race in Zakhara, and most still work as mercenary barbarians or are slaves captured abroad. Though not officially second-class citizens, they are seen as coarse, rural and unsuited to the fine life. A few are fully integrated, but most still face the problems of immigrants throughout the ages, poverty and prejudice.

Orks count the Voosgard and Vosbait reaches as their home. At various times, tribes of orks have migrated and settled in other lands, but orks are still mainly found in their ancestral homelands.
