Human

Insaan: Human
Arabian Nights People: Arabs, Negroes & Caucasians

A human can, in the course of the game, acquire any schtick available to any other race. This may in some cases bring undesired physical changes to your human form.

Note that a human must still meet a member of another race (or a human that knows the schtick) in order to learn a schtick from them. Also note that some of the listed schticks can only be learned by Transformed Animals, and are thus inaccessible to humans.

These cost the human character (12 + x) experience points where x = The number of transformed animal schticks the character will have once he acquires the new one. Remember that all racial schticks count as transformed animal schticks for point costs.

A human that somehow acquires normal transformed animal schticks (i.e. from the animal totem sorcery schtick), pay the normal cost for them, saving four points on each such schtick but still counting the sum of animal and racial schticks.

Description

Ins are the humanoid races. Insaan are humans in particular, or the human-folk. But almost all the other races are derived from human stock, magically enriched by the world of Toril. Thus, humans are the basis from which all other races spring, and the root to which all other races are compared.

Humans have no particular strengths and weaknesses, but are very adaptable, able to change themselves through living in close association with other peoples. Thus, human living along with elves tend to become elf-like, humans in dwarf communities slowly come to resemble dwarfs and so on. But in actual fact, humans can adjust to and mimic any of the magical races of Toril.

Humans are plentiful. Humans are the most common race in Zakhara, and dominate many of the lands of Toril. Even in areas where they do not dominate, they still form a large minority. They vary very much as individuals, but still seem to be the most "average" of all the races.

Humans have differing skin tones, becoming progressively darker as you go south and progressively redder as you go west. They are between 150 and 180 cm tall, and human build just about defines what is average. Their appearance varies from hideously ugly to strikingly beautiful, and they are among the most varying races, both in size, appearance a mentality. Different members of tribes and clans tend to be physically similar.

Humans settle well with work, but do not have a natural drive to work, such as the dwarves have. Some are disposed towards indolence, but most prefer a mix of work and leisure. Finding that skill and experience improves their station, they often seek to master a particular profession, but develop some other skills for diversion.

In Zakhara, humans form about two-thirds of the population, and set the standard for what is normal in society. They are also the dominant race in Anuire, Rus, Karameikos and Ylarum far to the west, as well as in Akota, the lands of the blacks, to the south.
